I don't really use this thing as a journal, but I noticed the last one I posted was about being out of work. That's at least a year out of date.
I wasn't out of work long before I got a great place in another local shop. I won't even go into my hours or percentage, cause it'll just piss you off. The last shop I was in begged me to come back (yelling "please" in the middle of the meat dept at walmart). I'm not sure how this is happening. I make no claims to be a great tattooer. I don't even consider myself a great artist. I am, however, the only artist in the area with any training whatsoever. I just wish I could work with someone who challenged me to be better.
Anyway, no more problems with my career. My kids are happy and impressing me more everyday (they're currently trying to learn how sketch like Da Vinci, so I gave them sketch books and conte pencils). Married life... well, you can't win them all. At least it's a peacefull seperation.

well crap
once again my tattoo career takes a dive. the new shop i was so excited to work in has closed after just 6 weeks. the landlord had a stake in the shop, and all he did was steal all the money and expect us to handle everything. we had no sign, no business cards, and no damned liscense! so, we quit.
another shop just opened up the road, so hopefully i'll get a spot there soon.
Bombshell Tattoos
Finally, after a mess of a "career" in tattooing, I'm working in a shop I'm proud of. The only full custom tattoo shop in Grayson co, TX.
I started to tattoo "punk rock style" back in '90, then quit when i had a kid i needed to support and opted for the USAF instead. not a bad thing altogether, but not the best for an artistic mind.
10 years later, I'm out and have no free flowing artistic juices. I met some new friends of the punk rock persuasion, they're into comic book art, it clicks again! I rip off their styles and the style of half the dark horse artists at the time (poorly, but still). A couple years of that, and I'm back in the swi
'best body of work'!
i'm a little more than stoked that i just won the "best body of work" award in the "expo '09" show. had a few pretty serious artists as compitition. the one i thought would stomp me ended up being the first ever tie! i'll try to get some pics of his work. the fact that the art council saw me as an equal blows me away. more so because of my subject matter and style. this is a very artistic comunity, but it's also in small town texas, so it's a little conservative.
now it's time to get ready for "earthdance austin"! it'll be my first serious art show (all my others have been at the college). i've got months to work though, so it'll give me tim
grayson co art show
i just entered 14 pieces into the grayson co expo '90 art show. this is the final show at the local college, judged by some very reputable artist from around the texas and oklahoma area... with cash prizes. i figured i'd take the shotgun aproach to make sure i got a few good pieces in. i gues it was a shot gun at point blank range, cause they all got in. needless to say, i'm stoked.
denison, tx is a small town. not much to write home about, but they've got a great art comunity. i'm just honored that respected classic style artists thought my work was worthy of being shown, even having one gallery owner purchase some of my work.
